More Maui
January 27, 2009
I don’t think i’ve had a harder time getting back into the groove of things in Calgary after a vacation than this time. I am mourning the absence of the tropical sun. I am actually a cat by nature and have a love hate realationship with the water, but i think i’m getting better at it and i’m starting to love love beach vacations.
Drying a very handy beach apparel, my rash guard. Great to protect again the sun while snorkeling so i don’t have to worry about applying sunblock, and the cool Pacific waters and trade winds renders getting in the water very very chilly!
I’m not one for pineapple, but after tasting Maui Gold we should have brought some pineapple home with us. Pineapple kissed by the Hawaiian sun is much sweeter, juicer – SO GOOD. We bought one at the grocery store one night and cut it up for breakfast the next morning. YUM!

Rockstar was so eager the first day we were in Maui to see the sun that first thing in the morning he started tanning on the lawn.
Plenty of sun to go around! Around the last few nights we were in Hawaii we saw the sunset every night, casting a different picture every time. Gorgeousness. I miss you Maui!

When Rockstar and I were invited to attend a destination wedding back in October, i pleaded – PUH-Lease can we go? I went to Hawaii before with my younger sister two years ago and I loved it – i couldn’t stop raving about it and when this opportunity came, i waited anxiously for Rockstar’s response. YOU’D LOVE IT THERE!!! I KNOW YOU WILL! We just flew back into Calgary today from Maui and Honolulu, and let me tell you it was FANTASTIC – Rockstar will tell you same.

The view we had everyday from our Condo we stayed at in Honolulu. Shout out to Mama and Papa Wong for letting us stay at the beautiful vacation home!
The condo had it’s own little beach front lagoon…
- there was a resident sea turtle Rockstar and Papa Wong visited while snorkeling. We really wished we invested in an underwater case for our camera!
In Maui on one of the sunniest days we decided to drive up to the Haleakala crater which sits above the clouds to watch the sunset. Rockstar checking out the clouds.
It was beautiful but super duper cold!
Loved the tropical flowers growing everywhere. I mused with Rockstar that i wouldn’t mind never seeing snow ever again.
This was probably the most relaxing trip i’ve ever been on. Rockstar and his friends planned everything out so all i had to do was show up. We shopped, we ate, we beached, we spa’d, the wedding was beautiful…

i never wanted to leave the island. So tomorrow’s high in Calgary is -15? Nice. =)

Madamoiselle P seems to know where all the cool places are in Calgary. My friends and I usually default to the same restaurants every week, and the same malls to shop at. Not so with her! She makes fantastic reccommendations for places to eat and places to see, so when she suggested that she knew somewhere we could take pictures, I quickly jumped at the chance.
We turned off on Bow Trail to a residential area, and ended up @ Edworthy Park. She was disappointed when her camera battery died shortly after we got there, but I was stoked that I now had a model! I had a fun afternoon, can’t wait for our next expedition out and about Cowtown!
Such a pretty profile, her lips make any lipgloss look good.
Despite the bitter cold we love Calgary for the amount of sunshine we get. Isn’t this gorgeous?
Thank goodness for Madamoiselle P’s years of yoga! Check out her balancing skills!

Hoonies Family Session
January 7, 2009
We started off the new year with missy here sticking her tongue at us.
The girls are cute and easily swayed by chocolates!
Newest addition to the family. Her eyes are the size of pizzas.
Her night cap was funny, it kept slipping over her eyes!
I love this shot because it looks like Baby A is smiling!
Baby kept her eyes open for a very long time – i was impressed.
Hoonie sister II here was the one who successfully corralled her family together for the shoot, after a busy day out in Canmore!
And here’s the shot! Not a bad looking bunch at all! All the babies had their gaze in our general direction which Clara and I would deem a success! It literally has been years since Clara and I chatted with the sisters together – it was a good time and made me miss the old times. Thanks girls for asking us to do this. It was an awesome way to spend the new year!
Happy New Year!

Sorry for the delayed post – i’ve been feeling super sicky lately and have been on a steady diet of NyQuil and Buckleys. (Which by the way i think really works and is a heck of a lot better tasting than dynatab!)
Clara and I celebrated New Year’s Day at the Hoonies, our good friends from way back in the uni days. Lots of have changed since then – both Hoonie sisters are both married and one just had her baby. You’ll see in a bit her awesome complexion due to the maternity glow! We were delighted to shoot an update of their family photo with the many in-law and baby additions since the last photo taken back in 2007. Here’s a sneak peak for now of just the sisters – i’ll get the rest posted up soon, now back to sleep to fight off this nasty cold!
Aren’t they adorable? Both of them still look exactly as they did back in the uni days. Maybe even better. =0)
