Gloria & Paul’s Wedding

August 26, 2008

When Glo and Paul told us they were getting married at a Vineyard, it never dawned on me that it was going to be an outdoor wedding! We arrived at the Vineyard and it was so impressive! It had a bit of a colonial feel to it, kind of Scarlett O’Hara-ish!

Clara and I were totally late for Gloria’s prep (SO SORRY!), but our absence from her preparation made it all the more astonishing when we saw her for the first time in her wedding gown. She was stunning.

The wedding ceremony was set up next to a gorgeous garden and a pretty waterfall. Paul looked very handsome coming down the aisle!

This is Paul’s sister – isn’t she HOT?! I loved her dress. With Paul’s side of the family/friends we saw the coolest hair looks – like her head piece! Love love her hat! (Or is it properly called a fascinator?)

Gloria!!! She has looked this gorgeous since junior high; modelesque, tall (and constantly getting hit on.) Her dress had gold flecks to it, very warm, very glam. Loved the flower in her hair.

Gloria’s b-fry, her MOM! Isn’t that cool? They’re super duper close – it’s the sweetest relationship. Can you see where Glo get’s her porcelain complexion from?

Daddy’s girl…he wrote the most amazing words and blessing: wanting to let her go yet still keep her close…

Later on Rockstar asked if Paul was crying…Rockstar saw a tear run from his eye, to which Paul said – it was probably sweat…. it was really HOT!

**Edit: can you see Rockstar in the background? He was asked by Gloria to play guitar for her as she walked down the aisle – Collide by Howie day. He was SO honored!**

Presenting Mr. and Mrs. Gloria Huang! =)

So cocktail hour was actually quite confusing, because it consisted of: lamb chops, a pasta station, fresh vegetables and fruit, sushi, ham…

there was so much food we were stuffed silly and thought it was our dinner! Little did we know that after stuffing ourselves @ 5pm they called us for our actual dinner. MORE FOOD!!!! =)

This is the first time i’ve seen a bride wear a corsage and i really liked it!

Roger, Gloria’s brother, put on the coolest slideshow with an Indiana Jones map theme. The music he chose was awesome, like cooler than The OC soundtrack. Glo obviously loved the slideshow, big hug!

Gloria, obviously very touched…

Gloria and Paul’s wedding in Long Island was totally memorable. Thank for you inviting the Calgary contingent – YEE HAW! You put on quite the spread! We should have brought our tupperware for the Viennese hour! As a power couple, you are kind, funny, generous, and hospitable. We are very blessed to be called your friends. Congrats! So…kids? Just kidding. =) Check out their official photog’s site, Blue Daisy Weddings!

Walking and Talking

August 20, 2008

Clara’s god-son hit the exponential growth spurt after 8 months and we’re almost afraid to blink in case we miss something monumental, like baby taking his first step! He’s so cute. When we sing he babbles and when we dance, he bops his head in rhythm and vigorously swings his arms. So i’ve made it a point to try to have the camera as my appendage every time we’re around Baby!

I love that babies are oblivious to the camera – you get the candid shots! He’s got the best of mom and dad’s features.

He’s starting to hoist himself up, sways first a little to the left… then right…steadies himself…

….before flopping on the floor.

Diapers serve many purposes! One more month before the little guy turns one! I can’t believe a year has gone by so fast. It’s been fascinating watching him grow – even the smallest of feats like sitting up or eating solids calls for celebration! You think he’ll be walking by his first birthday? I know i’m obsessed with him. When people ask if i want a baby of my own, i say no, RoRo is a-ok for me. Because when he does a BIG poopie or a gas bomb, i just hand him back to mom and dad. Thank the good Lord for reality checks! =)

Everytime I go to NYC I can never get enough of it – there’s never enough time to see friends, sight see, shop and spot celebs! We did so much in so little time! I was most impressed that the six of us in NYC + Baby were able to maneuver ourselves so well!

Carrots first time in NYC and does she do the ‘touristy’ double-decker thing? Nuh-uh, instead she lands herself an awesome food tour:  The Original Greenwich Village Food and Culture Walking Tour.

Honest to goodness, i needed to break from blogging to eat, i was getting so hungry looking at these pictures. Good call on the food tour! From what i gather, Carrots and Cindy highly recommends! Didyawanna see New York pizza??

Thin crust. I could eat the entire pie. Mmmmmm!!! The rest of us signed up for a different food tour the next day. More on that in a bit.

Clara, Rockstar and I visited the Ground Zero Museum Workshop Tour while Carrots was busy eating. It was set up in the Meat Packing district (not at Ground Zero!) and was a compilation of artifacts from the recovery, and the most heart wrenching, moving and riveting photos done by Gary Suson, the official photographer of the 9/11 recovery. Each photo and artifact had a number associated with it so you could listen to Gary’s commentary.

A clock found in one of the sub-basements during the recovery, erily stopped at precisely 10:02am when the plane hit.

Rescue dogs during the months of recovery were able to sniff out scents, but were virtually unable to locate anything buried deep beneath the debris & rumble and became depressed. They would slump back into their kennels so the firemen and photographer would have to hide underneath tarps to feign needing rescue and up the spirits of the dogs when the dogs ‘found’ them.

After our day of sight seeing (we also spotted Topher Grace pacing the restaurant we were dining at!), spending time with Syl (Happy Birthday!) and shopping, we were invited up to Syl and Gav’s swanky pad in Union Square – here’s the view from atop of their condo. Nice!

The next day we rented a car in Manhattan, piled in and Rockstar drove us to Long Island while Dez expertly navigated. Baby cried all the way there. Except for the last 15 minutes. He was giving his MaMa high blood!

We drove up to Riverhead for one of our bestest girlfriend’s wedding at a beautiful vineyard. Stunning i tell you! She’s off in Tahiti honeymooning – so we’ll get her pics up soon before she’s back from her vacay. =)

Tales from NYC

August 11, 2008

We’ve been back from NYC for a week now and i just downloaded all the pics. Our vacation was fun but way too short. We still managed to fit in a tonne of activities within the span of a few days, one of which was stuffing baby into a chicken suit when we were at Syl and Gav’s apartment:

Tee hee…awww, he’s so cute! A purchase from Babies “R” Us in Manhattan’s Union Square. The suit ended up to be too small, and we also figured that there’s no feet for poor baby to maneuver in (in my opinion the no-feet aspect makes him look extra cute – poor thing!) Suffice to say, baby wasn’t a huge fan of the suit and it was promptly returned after our short fiasco. More pictures/stories to come!

Clara and I just got back from a jam packed but fun weekend in New York City and Long Island last night. Louise and Jon’s wedding is coming up soon so it was on the top of my to do list to finish their engagement photos when we got back. I finished them tonight – YAY! Here are a few of my favorites.

I really loved the location Louise chose to shoot because it not only provided us with many props to pose the couple with, it was meaningful to Louise and it was really a gorgeous school.

I got this whilst the couple were transitioning poses. Again i love the cool and casual shots where the couple are just laughing with each other!

We were standing in the school yard and even though Louise is a school teacher, i betcha she can still pass as a student! Gotta love them Asian genes.

Old school black and white. No pun intended…=)

Louise showing off her pretty ring. Clara and I thought the fire escape Jon is sitting at is ornamental but apparently the kids do use it for class changes and fire drills.

I think after this shoot i’m in love with pictures with green, nice finishing touch to the handsome couple.

Louise looks so safe in Jon’s arms! I have to share that from lying on the grass i aggravated my nerdy allergies, but the green – I like its touch so it was worth it!

It’s not a complete schoolyard feel without having a schoolyard fence!

Louise and Jon were so obliging to anything we suggested as poses. Thanks guys for being so easy going!

The faraway look – they’re actually looking at Clara and doing a darn good job looking good at the same time.

So happy that the golden drops of sunshine had a few moments to grace the couple. Butter, non? Can you get a sense yet at how pretty the Hillhurst sandstone school is? Maybe I’m overly in awe because my elementary/junior high school was designed to look like a brown shoe box.

Just chilling out and showing off them pearly whites. We had to untie a few school lamented notices from the window lattice first before we got them to sit down and almost forgot to fasten them on again after we were done!

I like this shot, i think Louise looks like a HK movie star, and Jon a manly man!

Congrats Jon and Louise! It was an honor to take your photos, thank you! Let us know how your big day goes, maybe we can catch up before the school year starts. Tropika? =)
