Louise and Jon’s Upcoming Wedding
July 31, 2008
Louise and Jon went to highschool together, were acquaintances for the longest time but serendipitously crossed paths last year at a mutual friend’s wedding where they really noticed each other. They’re now engaged with the wedding fast encroaching in mid-August. Louise is gentle in spirit and Jon is, well – HUGE! When Louise mentioned she wanted photos done at her school where she taught, i had no idea how beautiful the building would be until we got there. Not only was it sandstone, it was shrouded by verdant trees and shrubs. The forecast for the day didn’t look good – a hailstorm even blew by downtown Calgary that afternoon, but by the time we met up with Louise and Jon the sun was beaming a warm late afternoon glow on the happy couple. Here’s a preview of their engagement shots, i thought the couple looked absolutey HOT!

Didn’t i tell you Jon’s huge?! And Louise’s skin? Like butter, so gorgeous! What’s her secret?!
Clara and I are off to NYC for a wedding this weekend, will blog more next week!

Jenn’s Wedding Prep Photos
July 25, 2008
Jenn answered the door holding a cup of hot tea with her hair already all done up. Clara and I hugged and congratulated her on her BIG day! Music was already pumping from inside the dining room where the BM’s chatted in a fashion that didn’t reflect early morning at all. It was really a fun and exciting morning, beautiful, relaxed and my heart welled for joy for our good friend that day getting married!

Arriving at Jenn’s 7am has its perks when it comes to the warm streaming lighting that filtered into her bedroom.

The sun moved really fast but we were still able to get in some nice warm shots of Jenn’s pretty dress hanging from her dresser.

Jenn’s super funky mirror. She was telling me that she LOVED this mirror as i absently listened to her because I was taking this shot – then she asked if i were listening. I was! Kind of!

Fabulous shoes! The pearls are pretty. I think she got these in Hong Kong!

Beautiful flowers done up by Auntie May. I’ll have to get her contact info!

Make up time, done by the fantastic Joelle Chan from Inouvi Cosmetics. Seriously, she’s awesome.

Jenn’s turn in the make up chair. Not a bad canvas for Joelle at all!

The maid of honor zipping Jenn up in her dress.

Hair and makeup all done! Jenn making the final adjustments before the jewelry goes on.

The bridesmaids had beautiful satin sashes to add as a final detail to their cute Dessy Dress.

Lookin’ good! Kudos to Joelle! Not that they weren’t BEAUTIFUL to begin with!

Jenn’s mom assisting her with the frosting.

Doorbell rings as Jenn puts on her final pieces before the veil. One of Ben’s buddy arrives to pick up the girls in his shiney Lexus!

Ta da! And it only took 3.5hrs for 5 girls to get ready! Not bad!

I have no idea what they’re laughing about, but from what they told me their whole day consisted of constant laughter.

Jenn being ushered into the car so she can get to the church on time.

Thanks for asking us to do this for you – it was really awesome to be able to spend the first portion of your wedding day with you and the girls. All the best to you and Ben, Clara and I cried so much last Saturday. LOVE YOU AND BEN-BEN LOTS! xoxo

Meemz Cakery
July 24, 2008
Prep shots are still in the works, but here are a few shots of B&J’s wedding cake taken at Ben’s sister’s place. It was Meemz wedding gift to the couple! She spent an entire evening from 6pm until midnight baking and woke up the next morning to bake some more, mmmmm! She churned out delicious mini chocolate cupcakes topped with buttercream frosting, and a beautiful two-tiered cake covered in fondant and laced with icing according to Jenn’s wedding dress detail. She baked enough for 300 hundred guests!!

Jenn gave Meemz a picture of her dress so she could detail the cake in a similar design.

Cute little mini cupcakes for the wedding reception. YUM! It’s dark chocolate, so not too sweet – just right!

Meemz is starting her own cake business, so…if you’re in need of a cake – give her a shout. Meemz Cakery!

Jenn & Ben’s Wedding
July 22, 2008
Clara and I were asked by Jenn to photograph her prep shots on her wedding day. We were stoked to be among the ranks of her bridesmaids for the morning! We arrived early Saturday to Jenn’s greeted by her bridesmaids in fits of giggle while they were getting their hair and makeup done. Everyone was super chill and laid back (Jenn especially!), Uncle Kenny joked that it was the perfect morning – for golf. Here’s a preview of Jenn’s beautiful morning, will chat more about their day soon!

Gloria and Paul’s Engagement Photos
July 14, 2008
We first met Gloria when we were in pre-school at a summer camp. She was the only other Asian girl there so of course there was a natural gravitation towards each other! We had one playdate with her and then never heard from her since.
Glo moved communities in junior high and landed at our school. We became fast friends and when Gloria mentioned to her mom that she met a set of twins, her mother inquired if we were the same twins from the summer camp days. After comparing notes we giggled in bemusement and confimed that indeed we use to know each other!
Gloria totally made our junior high years most memorable and i wouldn’t have chosen any other girl to have gone through those years with. We ’studied’ together, were mall rats, tied up the phone lines like crazy since we didn’t have internet or call waiting, plucked each other’s eyebrows, experimented with makeup, talked about our crushes, and as cheesy as it sounds talked our future, hopes and dreams.
Even though we went to different universities and Glo ended up moving to different cities around the world, we kept in touch – and Glo realized all her dreams. She studied in California, became a lawyer and met the most wonderful man that she’ll be marrying this summer.

Gloria and her man, Mr. Paul. I’m elated that Gloria found such an awesome guy. He’s witty, fun, calm and a natural compliment to Glo. They’ve been dating over 5 years!

During our trip to Vancouver we had decided to try out a restaurant in Stanley Park, Sequoia Grill Tea House. It’s perched on a beautiful lawn over-looking the water and surrounded by trees and gardens. After ordering our appies we took off to the lawn to catch the sunset.

I wanted to capture how leggy Glo is. If it were me lying there i’d only take up half the bench.

She is almost 6 feet tall with heels. I felt like a munchkin pretty much around her all the time in junior high. Thank goodness for heels now!

Paul looking pensive. I’ve always been jealous of Glo’s skin. It’s like milk. Absolutely no retouching is done on her face!

Paul is British! He moved to NYC with Glo and she says that he’s actually lost a lot of his accent!

Glo and Paul watching the sunset and the boats sailing calmly by in the water. I love Vancouver!

This was taken the next day a few hours before Sylvia and Gavin’s wedding while we were trying to stroll kitsilano beach. It was raining!

Despite the rain, Glo is ever so stylish and still wore a hot fushia summer dress! It was cold though, good thing she has Paul to keep her warm! Rockstar, Clara and I are behind the camera bundled in sweaters!
Glo and Paul were a joy to vacay with and i wish we had vacationed more together in the past. So the countdown begins for Glo and Paul for their wedding in Long Island this coming August. I can’t wait you guys!!

Gavin & Sylvia
July 10, 2008
She was Miss Independent and he was The Invisible Man. Someway somehow they were meant to be and when Syl came back to Calgary after university, Gav was right there! She went to New York to follow her dreams – and dare i say Gav went to NY to follow his dreams and his dream girl as well?
We spent an amazing weekend in VanCity to celebrate their wedding @ Vancouver’s Canada Place. As they exchanged vows, Syl confidently without missing a beat gave her promises to Gav straight from her heart. It was very genuine, very Syl. She said Gav was and will always be there for her with open arms and she knows that two are better than one. Gav told her he loved her (and we all knew he always has!) They’re so blessed the have each other.

Fantabulous wedding program, loved the detail, ribbon and colors. Regal, yes?

Oceanview Room at Vancouver’s Canada Place where the ceremony was held.

We were staying at the Delta Hotel downtown. While Clara and I were getting ready before the wedding, Rockstar decided to take the camera for a walk and guess who he ran into? Gavin’s boys! Syl & Gav were doing photos before the wedding (www.eringilmorephotography.com)

Gorgeous flowers here’s the bridesmaid bouquet. I forgot who they said the vendor was, Granville Island Floral? I’m really digging the pinks.

The processional, Syl in her stunning dress and Uncle Albert wearing his trademark tie!

And here are the Tams! YAY!!

Baby tinkering at the piano during the cocktail hour. He’s got some musical blood in him.

Our MC’s of the evening, Miss Ritchie and Kenny. They look so good! Ritchie’s dress you can wear a gazillion different ways as long as she doesn’t loose the instruction manual!

Super classy centre pieces. It made the reception hall look gloriously pretty.

The cupcake idea is awesome – evening out the icing to cake ratio is never a bad idea!

Despite the rain, it was a wedding to behold along Vancouver’s gorgeous harbor. Congrats you two – it was such a beautiful day! MUAH! XOXOXOXO!

Willow Stream Spa
July 1, 2008
One of the girls was in dire need of a relaxation weekend so we decided to have a spa day up in Banff at the Willow Stream Spa. (Thank goodness for health spending accounts!)
With your treatment comes with it full use of its facilities and they totally pamper you with robes, slippers, a huge change room with all the toiletries you need, lounge areas facing the mountains with tea, cookies, coffee, and infused water. We were there from 2pm and didn’t leave until 8pm! We tried the steam room, inhalation room, dipped in all the mineral pools and read our chick magazines. It was so relaxing. AND FUN!

The assortment of teas found in the lounge area. The Vanilla Orchid is my favorite!

Individual honey jars for your tea. Pretty cute and convenient. One jar is too sweet for a cup of tea though!

We decided to stay at the hotel to have our dinner after our spa at the Bow Valley Grill. Here’s Laurs’ (aka Miss PR) maple glazed salmon. Looks good, but she wasn’t a huge fan – too sweet!

Posing outside of the Bow Valley Grill out on the terrace of the Banff Springs Hotel. It was a hot day so the evening was cool and balmy. Squish told us before our trip to bring a nice dress. Pretty huh?
I could have slept right after dinner but i was in denial that i’m getting old, so we stayed out and wandered the streets of Banff. We wanted dessert but did you know that EVERYTHING closes at 10pm? We ended up at an Irish Pub having drinks. I slept so well that night! Thanks girls for initiating, it was a fun weekend. Reminded me the simple days of university when we use to do these trips more often! =)
